Ingredients

  • 1 round cob loaf
  • 250g cream cheese, softened
  • 300g sour cream
  • 1 packet (30g) French onion soup mix
  • 1 cup frozen spinach, defrosted and drained (squeeze out excess water)
  • 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese (optional, for extra creaminess)
  • Olive oil for drizzling (optional)
Instructions
  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Prepare the Cob Loaf:
    – Cut the top off the cob loaf and set it aside.
    – Hollow out the loaf, keeping the bread pieces for dipping.
  3. Make the Filling:
    – In a bowl, mix together the cream cheese, sour cream, and French onion soup mix until well combined.
    – Stir in the defrosted, drained spinach, and cheddar cheese if using.
  4. Fill the Loaf:
    – Spoon the mixture into the hollowed cob loaf.
    – Place the top back on the loaf and arrange the bread chunks on a baking tray.
  5. Bake:
    – Drizzle a little olive oil over the bread chunks if desired.
    – Bake in the oven for 15–20 minutes, or until the filling is hot and the bread is crisp.
  6. Serve:
    Serve warm, using the bread chunks for dipping.
